environment
rolling agricultural, deep wooded little river valley
servicesnone, town 10mins train
accessstation at door: Paris 4h45
area
✧ whilst a mostly unadventurous agricultural landscape there's gooddays woods starting just 5mins walk where there's a grassy picnic spot, little beach for swimming, and a resto; the woods extend a good distance and can be peiced togetehr with others and the terrain is not entirely uniform with interesting segments of peat/heather
✦ the long tiny rivery valley has bits of gorge down which the railway runs
✦ decent walks thus possible and long biking, for more variety a 30mins drive to the highlands
station at door; Uzerche 10mins, Brive 40mins last 7pm, Limoges 40mins last 8:30pm
✦ no shops, boulangerie 15mins bike; shopping by train 10mins to town
delightful little medieval town of Uzerche is fine for everything albeit is 20mins walk from its station so not actually convenient, 15mins drive otherwise
✦ tiny organic shop, several supermarkets including organic, brewery and weekly market; good restos, cafe and pub
✦ "graffiterie" in the old paper factory
✦ the bigger towns are absurdly quicker to drive to, but both at 40mins by train are perfectly good for popping out with good variety
tennis, kayak (world championships held nearby), SUP and raft
✦ lots of horse riding, famous hippodrome near
Paris is 4h45 with 1 change for €40 last 4:30pm
✦ Limoges airport year-round to Marrakesh, Stansted, Manchester, Midlands; Toulouse/Bordeaux 3h30 changing; Barcelona connection is labourious
✦ Brive airport year-round to Porto and Stansted
